wow i got goosebumps. you forget how good some of these guys were.

    Raps Fan,

    I agree.

When searching for an appropriate clip to kick things off today, it was somewhat disconcerting to find so many of the current day ‘Mix Tapes’ focused so heavily on explosive ‘dunks only’, and with accompanying song lyrics which I consider inappropriate to publish on my blog … even though there are parts contained within them that speak directly to the heart-beat of the modern NBA game,

e.g. an excerpt from, ‘Remember The Name‘:

    It’s like this y’all (c’mon!)

This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

IMO … what we’re about to see this year is going to become Legendary … as was last season’s Celtics’ championship.

Goosebumps and, I am not shy to admit, tears boys!!

This game, like some things in life, is just something else.

Khandor, so what does the +104 on C’s mean? They have to score that many for you to win? I’m a wager noobie.

    re: Celtics +104

Yesterday the wager lines on the Celtics were …

Boston -7/-101 [meaning that you had to lay 101 to win 100 back with the C’s winning by 8 or more pts], -285 [meaning that you had to lay 285 to win back 100 with the C’s winning the game outright].

I was not interested in those numbers for either team.

Earlier today the lines moved to …

    Boston -6/-107, -254.

I was not interested in either of those numbers.

But, during the 2nd quarter of the game itself …

after the C’s had received their rings from David Stern, in a pre-game ceremony, and with the Cavs having opened up with a 10-0 run to start the 1st Quarter, and then holding an 8-pt lead, late in the first half …

the in-game wagering Money Line shifted to …

Boston +104 [meaning that you only had to lay 100 to win back 104, with the C’s winning the game outright].

That number, right there, caught my interest. 🙂

Final Score: Boston 90 Cleveland 85

Those tears which welled up in Paul Pierce’s eyes, and then streamed down his cheeks … after being introduced last amongst the Celtics players, as ‘the Captain’ and ‘Tha Truth’, tell you just how important winning a NBA championship truly is to the MEN who toil in this League, night after night, year after year, decade after decade, chasing that elusive Holy Grail, only EARNED by a precious few, in the Grand History of THIS game, dating back to the Great Man, himself [i.e. Bill Russell].

Yessirree, the … The Game Happens Here.

Man… I wish I knew more about the wager game. I would have put money on the LakeShow last night… and won.

Like you say… they are going to win a lot of games this season.. should be able to make so money, huh?

I was tied up and missed the 1st 3qs of that tilt… I am not a Boston fan by any stretch, but they won the ring… so, kudos.

It’s funny how I liked both Pierce and KG before that trade.. now, not so much.

    re: the Wager game

It’s an exceptional easy game to play poorly; and, an exceptionally difficult game to play well.

Only those who really do know what they’re doing … in terms of assessing correctly the specific strengths and weaknesses of respective opponents and what the authentic numbers can tell you about a specific match-up … can ever hope to succeed in that cold, harsh environment where no quarter is asked for and None is given, in return … i.e. What you get to keep is exactly what you earn; nothing more and nothing less. 🙂

  7. fluxland Says:

Them being the reasons why I don’t participate. 🙂

  8. fluxland Says:

The Raps are going to get “waxed pretty good tonight” and “smacked”… ROFL… excellent!

  9. khandor Says:

The Raptors played well last night … with several positives and a few negatives.

On the whole, though, it was good to see.

As I’ve said for a long time … there are some really nice ‘pieces to the puzzle’ on their current roster … not unlike there has been dating back to the late 1990’s. 🙂
