Fans should take a close look at where their favourite team is at today … and, then, compare this reality to the final regular season standings which they’ll see in April, 2009, as the little bolded letters get placed beside the playoff-bound teams’ names in the far-left column.

Time to Let the games begin, in earnest …

Excellent! Updated version? I bookmarked the last one.. so I could go back and compare. Thank you.

    Q. What are the 1 and 8 for in the pictures?

  2. khandor Says:

    Flux,

Yes, it’s the final updated version.

#1 and #8 indicate the place of each pic, respectively, in the Final Countdown to the tip-off of the NBA’s regular season schedule … which begins today! 🙂 … on the fabulous blog, Hardwood Paroxysm.

The Season Previews there are amongst the very best available anywhere on the net, in terms of ‘style & content’.

Contrary to what some [not you though] obtuse individuals might think, I appreciate both … when they occur simultaneously, i.e. Showtime, where the mantra, “No Rebounds; No Rings.”Pat Riley, originates, in conjunction with an inherent artistic appeal.

Very nice post dude. I think these standings are going to be fairly close to how things will end up. I don’t know about Denver being so high or San Antonio so low, those seem to be exceptions but the parity in the East will surprise a lot of people.

How old do seriously think Greg Oden looks? I’d say he looks 35-40..

  4. khandor Says:

    Arsenalist,

    Thanks for the compliment. 🙂

    re: Denver

Don’t think they are going to be able to maintain that pace in the WC throughout the season but have no doubt that they will finish as one of the Top 15 in the NBA again this season … especially with their newfound commitment to better balance, i.e. running a tad less while defending a touch more … unlike, perhaps, the Toronto Raptors.

There’s a line of dialogue from an old movie, which is one of my all-time favourites, that goes like this:

“George, some folks are just born older.”Peter Bailey [Bailey Brothers Building & Loan]

Bonus Points to the first person who can correctly identify the movie.

IMO … Greg Oden [and his individual game] fits into this category. 🙂

    re: the Spurs

I see them dropping back a notch or two in the WC this season, at least, during the Regular Season, with the off-season surgery to Manu Ginobili.

    Regardless …

Flux can tell you all about the level of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. this corner has for an outfit like the Spurs, while directed by the Popovich/Buford tandem.

If Manu can get healthy … they will still be a tough and dangerous out in the WC playoffs.
